My third cyclocross season has just come to an end 1/11 at nationals here in Boulder. I started this whole cyclocross thing as a CAT 4 three years ago and this whole season raced as CAT2. I am now a mid to front pack finisher and seem to be in a good place, mostly racing CAT 1/2 35+ races. This season consisted of 13 races mostly fair weather here in beautiful CO. Having nationals in Boulder this year was the drive to continue riding in the cold weather through the holiday's. I did get my fair share of skiing with the kids and plenty of trips into the high country as well. But was able to maintain some fitness, the course at nationals and state this year were great. State and nationals were muddy in many spots from snow the days prior, nationals had very strong winds to deal with as well. This season was in many ways a great success, no wins, but I feel like I am slowing moving up in the CAT 2 fields and gaining skills along the way. In 2014 I have some MTB and Xterra races planned along with the usual 1/2 Ironmans, hoping that all this CX racing can complement some of the technical skills needed and vice versa. I want to thank SonicBoom racing for all the support throughout the road and CX season. Fuji bikes for the support and new disc bike this season, makes a huge difference. And John Flora from jmflora-photo.com for the great race pics this season. I have so much fun racing CX it will always be part of the end to each season and the start of fitness for the next.
